He accepts her invitation to lunch: ‘And as I happen to be free tomorrow, Thursday, we’ll leave it until tomorrow, if that’s all right with you. MENDÈS, whom I met last night, mentioned your plan to me. I must admit I was very intrigued and still am’… He gives his address: ‘21, Rue Saint-Georges (Batignolles)’. Enclosed is a handwritten letter on the same subject, Paris, 8 January 1889 (poor condition, browned paper, hole); and a handwritten letter from the publisher Georges CHARPENTIER to Ph. Gille, 24 March 1875, announcing the forthcoming publication of Zola’s book (1 p. in-8 on Bibliothèque Charpentier letterhead).
