Contemporary fawn calfskin, ribbed spine, salmon-coloured title label, decorated panels, fillet, dotted border and angular fleurons on the covers, all blind-stamped, gilt roulette with chased patterns, speckled edges, repairs to the corners (small stains on the upper cover, very slight rubbing on the edges and corners, a few very small foxing spots).
A fine early edition of Erasmus’s text. A new edition of Gueudeville’s famous translation, illustrated with a frontispiece and 15 plates drawn by Eisen and etched in black
notably by Tardieu and Lemire, including a large vignette on the title page, a banner and a colophon. Cohen-Ricci, 348 (1751).
