‘Do you still, from time to time, listen to music and take an interest in musicians of the right sort?’ He recommends to him the pianist Hans von BRONSART, ‘one of my dearest friends, [...] who spent two years with me in Weimar, where he left the finest impression on both the court and the town. As an extraordinary pianist in your household, he could replace Kroll (with whom he is quite closely associated in Berlin), and you will find him in every respect to be a very proper young man, a remarkable musician, and a man of wit. I add, by way of information, that his father is currently Commander of the fortress of Wesel and that several of his brothers serve in the Prussian army 60827
, as a result of which he is well supported by recommendations and will have good prospects in the career for which he has prepared himself through serious study, which, as you will hear, has borne excellent fruit’... He sends affectionate regards from Princess Wittgenstein...
