L.A.S. ‘Victor Hugo’, H.H. [Hauteville House], 18 May [1872], to Mrs Zélie ROBERT; 1 page, in-8.

To the mother of a young Communard who has been deported. ‘I have written to you at once, Madam, to provide the information your noble and tender mother’s heart so longs for. Unfortunately, the opening of the Assembly is keeping all our friends occupied; but I shall do my utmost to remind them of their duty. I have every hope for your poor son; his youth protects him from scurvy, and before long, the amnesty will return him to you.”
