In-16 (h 118 mm), 450 pp., (7) ff. Contemporary mottled tan calfskin, spine with 4 raised bands, gilt fleurons, double border of a triple blind-stamped fillet on the covers, 4 gilt fleurons at the corners, small central gilt iron, binding restored (slight water damage at the very beginning of the volume and at the foot of the pages in quires z and AA; quire EE bound before DD).

A rare Parisian Latin edition of the Fables. Illustrated with over 200 wood-engraved vignettes in the text, printed in black after drawings by Bernard Salomon. Wood-engraved printer’s and bookseller’s marks on the title page and the verso of the last folio. USTC, 153036 lists a single copy at Cambridge, Houghton Library.
