CHEVIGNÉ (Count of). Les Contes rémois. Épernay, Bonnedame père et fils, 1875. Quarto, size 32 [110 mm unbound], (3)-VIII-231 pp., frontispiece portrait, title and text in red and black with generous margins. Navy morocco, ribbed spine, title, place and date gilt, richly decorated panels with small ironwork, covers adorned with a double frame of triple gilt fillets, with a central medallion in dotted pattern and fleurons in the spandrels, all gilt, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché caps, interior lace, gilt edges on marbled paper, original cover preserved [Hardy]. A charming miniature edition illustrated with an engraved portrait of the author on the frontispiece, by Varin. A very fine copy on watermarked laid paper, bound with delicacy and skill by Hardy. Limited edition of 651 copies, one of 500 on laid paper.

Tobacco-coloured morocco, ribbed spine, title and author’s name in gold, small fleur-de-lis stamp, covers stamped with a gold plate, roulette pattern and gold fillet framing the inner covers, gilt edges, in a slipcase imitating a green morocco binding with ribbed spine, title and small gold stamps, gold fillet framing the covers, fleurons at the corners.
