Small rectangular chest with a curved lid, of the Namban type, in black and gold lacquered wood, with mother-of-pearl inlays, the lid and front face decorated with cranes in flight in a diamond-shaped reserve on a mother-of-pearl glitter background, the back and short sides decorated with mother-of-pearl panels, the edges highlighted with a frieze of crosspieces, the brass fittings embellished with floral and stylised motifs| the inside lacquered red, with ladder motifs on the lid.
