RARE VOTIVE SCEPTRE SURMOUNTED BY A WARRIOR. MOCHICA, BETWEEN 100 BC ET800 AP. B.C.
Its ornament, its attributes in gilded copper, gold, turquoise and shells, allow us to deduce that it is certainly a lord. A very similar model is kept in the Sipan Museum. The warrior, made of bone, is kneeling, holding a club and a shield. This type of object is a witness of the refinement under the Mochica.
Gilded copper on wood core, bone.
Repositioned cap (original element).
Height: 22 cm.
Provenance
Old Bergenneau collection.
