First presented in March 1934 as a sedan in front of the main Citroën dealers, the 7 quickly expanded its range with two other versions, called faux-cabriolet and roadster. The work of the genius Italian sculptor Flaminio Bertoni, the Traction Avant will be a worldwide success, but unfortunately its progenitor André Citroën will not be born. Revolutionary when it was launched, the Traction will become a universal success, proving the validity of André and his engineers’ choices: front wheel drive, monocoque bodywork, four independent wheels, all under a low and slender body line. Its qualities have only been confirmed over the years and its evolution over more than 20 years of production. It immediately appeals to the public, thanks to the excellent habitability provided by its lack of chassis, for a price that remains reasonable. The 7A, the first version of the Traction, was replaced in June by the 7B, which adopted a 1,529 cc engine developing 35 hp. The convertible is equipped at the rear with a spider that accommodates two additional people, it is an extremely attractive car because it combines all the driving qualities of the Traction with a very pure line and a superior ease of use compared to the sedan, thanks to its open-air cabin.
