T he DS Citroën was a gifted car, with the heavy task of succeeding the Traction Avant in 1955. It struck the public with a new and striking line of modernism, a masterpiece of Flaminio Bertoni, but it was also surprising in its technique and design: hydropneumatic suspension, power steering, disc brakes, semi-automatic gearbox to name but a few examples. Twenty years of career and various models ranging from the elegant convertible to the utility station wagon version, she will also shine in competition by winning the MonteCarlo Rally in 1958. A true myth and symbol of French industrial genius, the DS is one of the most collected cars in the world. There are amateurs driving daily at the wheel in California or even in Australia, proof of its great robustness and ease of use. The DS we are interested in here is an ID 19 first put into circulation in Tours on June 2, 1967. Sold by the establishments Pichard avenue de Grammont, it was bought by Mr. Boisnon, a butcher by trade and living a réelle mais Monsieur B alors en retraite depuis fort longtemps, décide (enfin) de changer de voiture ! Le garage Citroën s’en porte alors acquéreur et l’expose dans son showroom, au milieu des véhicules neufs. Lors de notre visite et de notre essai, nous avons été surpris par l’état de fraîcheur de l’auto. Régulièrement entretenue pendant ses 50 ans d’utilisation, elle a toujours couché dans un garage. La sellerie est magnifique, la peinture juste un peu patinée mais encore très belle. L’essai fut concluant et la bala
