The one that will replace André Citroën’s famous Traction Avant comes from the imagination of two men: André Lefèbvre, an engineer, and Flaminio Bertoni, a draftsman and sculptor. By pooling their talent, they will, with the DS, revolutionize the history of the automobile. The DS is a condensed version of modern technology for the time. It uses high-pressure hydraulics that provide smoothness and power, hydropneumatic suspension, dual-circuit disc brakes with splitter, power steering and the famous rotating headlights. A concern for aerodynamic efficiency influenced his body design, while ergonomics was the priority in the interior design, particularly for controls that were accessible without letting go of the steering wheel. It will continue to improve over the course of its 20-year career and maintain its position as a top-of-the-range French sedan. In 1972, the ultimate evolution came with the DS 23, which replaced the 21. Its displacement of 2347 cm3 develops according to the type of feed 115 or 130 horses. The DS presented here is a version equipped with the 2.3l engine with electronic injection. Painted in the desirable Beetle Brown colour, a colour that also equipped SMs in those same years, it was ordered with the famous hydraulic box. The interior is made of fabric and not leather as many Pallas models do, covered with covers. Owned by the Blanchet family since 1986, it was purchased from its first owner who owned a country house in the Allier. Mr. Blanchet, a mechanic in his condition, used his DS 23 Pallas regularly and particularly for his long family trips.
