The birth of the C5 in 2000 came at a time when Citroën was putting an end to the renewal of the aging Xantia. In terms of dynamic quality, the manufacturer must maintain its image, and the C5 will therefore be particularly comfortable, with a new generation of Hydractive suspension, which will provide better comfort and handling than the Xantia, and with a redesigned upholstery. By the way, the C5’s interior is more luxurious than that of the old wagon it is intended to replace and that of the competition in general. The future Citroën will have to play the role of the wagon with wise but also top-of-the-range engines, including a V6 engine. Soon the sedan was available in station wagon version and was a significant success in Europe and more particularly in Germany. Land of speed and high-end tuners, one of them named Carlsson is attacking the peaceful Citroën. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001, a completely modified prototype was presented both externally and internally. It was not until 2003 that a final version was finally released. It will be distributed by Citroën exclusively in Germany. The list of modifications is considerable and includes mainly the preparation of the engine from 210 hp to 235 hp by working on the intake manifold and injection computer. The chassis are also redesigned and the body height is lowered. All these optimizations will allow a maximum speed of 235 km/h in a very comfortable Citroën environment. The car presented here is one of the few C5 by Carlsson cars registered in France. Put into service on 12/01/2004, it is Obsidian black in colour with a two-colour blue and specific black interior.
