In 1964, sales of the 2CV fell against the competition, particularly the Renault 4. Citroën Director M. Bercot then drew up specifications in order to create a new model to gain market share. It lays down 4 principles: equip the car with a tailgate, limit the fiscal power to 2CV, manufacture at a lower cost by using parts derived from the 2CV and the Ami 6 and finally use the assembly line of the 2CV. Introduced in 1967, the Dyane stands out from the 2CV with its integrated wing lights and tailgate. When it comes out, it is equipped with the 425 cc 2CV twin cylinder. In 1968, the Dyane 6 was offered with a new 602cc engine. More than 1.4 million copies were produced and production stopped in 1983. The model presented here is in the Borely ivory colour of the 1974 colour chart, with a brown leather interior. Purchased new in January 1974 in Nyons (Drome department), this car had only 2 owners before the current one. The first owner kept the car from 1974 to 2016. In 2017, its new owner, well known to Citroën collectors and based in Tournus, acquired it. Its counter displays about 36,000 km, which seems to be its original mileage. Some parts of the bodywork were painted again, probably as a result of clumsy manoeuvre. Having spent most of her life in the south of France, this Dyane has not been subjected to corrosion and was protected with an anti-corrosion treatment. The hood mechanism is in perfect condition and the interior has been very well preserved. Selected for the 100th anniversary of the «Born in Paris» exhibition, it has revived many memories for visitors who came to admire it.
