Restorations, wear to the gilding
This writing desk, whose superb marquetry work is reminiscent of the work of Pierre Gole (circa 1620-1684), appointed master carpenter in ebony for King Louis XVI and his entourage, is one of the first models of desk that appeared in the capital around 1660-1670. We find this highly appreciated marquetry of flowers as well as the exuberance of plants and animals that run throughout the frame with its pronounced architectural structure.
