Exceptional system model of the castle of Castelnau (Plou, department of Cher) in three dimensions, with the elevations of the walls able to rise, fall back and fold flat: the details abound, the architectural and decorative elements are rendered with great finesse. The castle of Castelnau is a Renaissance construction reworked in the 17th and 18th centuries.



In France, the first relief representations, in wood or copper, date from the 17th century: there are also three-dimensional paper models whose elements unfold and fold down, but the fragile nature of cardboard means that few of them are kept. The commune of Plou, situated about 20 km from Bourges, was formerly home to the vassal castle of Breuilhamenon, which was replaced by the present castle of Castelnau. The lordship
