The general design of this console is reminiscent of the furniture made by Joseph Stockel, with its slightly heavy but very monumental appearance. A chest of drawers in this spirit, preserved in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, also has drawers on the sides that open to reveal a hiding place. These massive pieces of furniture have long been attributed to Guillaume Beneman. The elements of this console, without pegs, can be dismantled, making it easier to transport.
