Precursor of the Formule France
After a very notorious 1965 year, André Marcadier decides going further by creating a single-seater car. The goal was to build a cheap but good-quality light car addressed to young drivers. From 1966, Andre Marcadier is going to build a very simple tubular chassis made of riveted aluminum leaf. He is also going to fit race suspensions with specific front and rear wishbones. An R8
Major engine and gearbox is fitted on the chassis. With only 330 kilos, it is the first Fournier-Marcadier exclusively made for race tracks. This single-seater is acclaimed by the journalists and the drivers, and will be the first national French
Formula. With a very attractive 10000 francs cost, we can imagine the first national championship for young drivers will be launched. Shortly afterwards, the project is finally aborted. Drivers who bought an Aral will finally enter their car at hill climbs races. Some of them will be modified in order to improve the performances. At the end of 1967, the French Federation announce the creation of the Formule France championship. André Marcadier and Marcel
Fournier observe with bitterness the regulations of this championship which seems to be very far from the specifications of the Aral. Assuming a new 1300 cc Gordini engine has to be fitted in the single-seaters, they will give-up their project for the benefit of their main rivals like GRAC. Finally, only 20 cars has been produced between 1966 and 1969.
The model we propose is a Marcadier Aral probably made in 1968. The car still comes with her ID certificate from 1990 and also her historic technical passport showing the car has been entered at many races from 1986 to 1989.
