Pierre SIMON was born in Mirecourt in December 1808. He was oriented from his youngest age towards bow making which he learned in his native town to master the letters of nobility.
Around the age of 30, and like many of his peers, he moved to Paris and settled with Dominique PECCATTE (1810 - 1874, violin maker) who inspired him with a very similar style in the design of his bows. Around 1847, he acquired the latter's workshop and joined forces with Joseph Henry (1823-1870, talented bow maker). Pierre SIMON evolves in his style and his bows receive over time excellent reviews and awards.
The bow maker did not hesitate to put his skills and those of his apprentices at the service of the great House of GAND Frères (famous family of bowed stringed instrument makers).
He also collaborated with other great names in violin making such as Jean-Baptiste VUILLAUME (1798-1875).
He left behind him a very high quality bow making heritage which is sought after today.
The bow we present has all the characteristics of the mastery of the art and gesture of this great bow maker of the 19th century.
