This cabinet is a fine example of the cabinets made in India under Portuguese protection. The main centre of production was the Gujarat region known for its elegant ivory inlaid cabinets.
The cabinets arrived in Goa to be shipped to Europe, where a clientele of connoisseurs who appreciated their decoration and the exoticism of their material awaited them.
