Bronze figure with a variegated brown patina, signed in relief on the base, bearing the foundry mark of Thiébaut frères and inscribed: Fumière et Gavignot Successeurs.
Height: 61 cm
(Good condition)

A smaller version of the monumental statue erected in 1895 in Saint-Aubin-de-Baubigné, in the commune of Château de la Durbelière, where Henri de La Rochejaquelein, a general in the Catholic and Royal Army, was born on 30 August 1772.

Henri de La Rochejaquelein (1772–1794) was a French royalist officer and a leading figure in the War in the Vendée during the French Revolution. At just 21 years of age, he became one of the commanders of the Catholic and Royal Army and distinguished himself through his courage and leadership. He is credited with the famous quote: “If I advance, follow me; if I retreat, kill me; if I die, avenge me.” He died in 1794, killed in action, embodying to the very end the courage of a leader ready to face revolutionary violence to defend his faith and his King.
