



Pistol of an officer in the Foot Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard

Arched-back design. Flat-bodied flintlock lockplate, chiselled and engraved with ‘Garde Imperiale des Grs A Pied’ and a swan-neck trigger. Double-fluted barrel tapering to a round profile, chiselled at the junction. The breech features two gilded cartouches, one of which bears a royal crown and a cross typical of Spanish artillery. The front sight is surrounded by a chiselled design depicting a spider’s web, a symbol of loyalty to the Emperor, and the breech is finely chiselled. Officer-style walnut stock, checkered, with chiselled iron fittings. Trigger guard featuring a trophy of arms motif and an oval cap bearing the initials ‘AJJ’. The hammer jaw is missing and there is damage to the screw. Complete with its nail-type ramrod. Good mechanical condition.
Early 19th-century Spanish work or a captured barrel mounted in France after the Spanish campaign.
