Brass mount based on a sabre with a swivelling guard.
Lion-headed pommel with a long tail attached to the ferrule.
Flat joint arch with a slightly curved quillon.
Wooden tang covered with sheepskin and double copper filigree.
Slightly curved Solingen blade, carp-tongue tip, with hollow-ground edges marked ‘GARDE NATIONALE DE FRANCE’ and ‘VIVE LA NATION LA LOI ET LE ROI’ (oxidation).
Leather scabbard with two brass fittings.
France, French Revolution period.
