Based on a design by André-Antoine Ravrio (1759–1814). It is made of chiselled bronze with a double patina, green and gold. The upper section depicts Diana the Huntress seated, flanked by a partridge and her dog. The lower section is shaped like a podium, into which is set a white enamelled dial, indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the quarter-hours in Arabic numerals. The movement is suspended by a wire. The slightly stepped base is decorated with an applied scene depicting the metamorphosis of Actaeon and hunting trophies. On a stand decorated with stylised palmettes and fitted with spinning-top feet.
First third of the 19th century.
