A polychrome glazed earthenware piece depicting an elephant ridden by a monkey and pulled by a Nubian, set against a vegetated terrace. It rests on a separate base of blue glazed earthenware, openwork-decorated with a Chinese-style frieze. Gien marks on the underside. Hand-wound movement, dial signed Reuge.
Based on the model created by Ulysse Bertrand, which was exhibited at the 1867 World’s Fair. Total
