Brass mount with a guard featuring four fleurons decorated with a lictor’s fasces and a base decorated with fleurons and stamped with a rooster and ‘CHEVALIER’.
The cap and shank do not conform to the standard design (period restoration, officer’s fancy version or emergency production).
Wooden tang covered in filigree leather.
Strong, straight V-shaped blade with a mark of the fasces and ‘THIER’.
Leather scabbard with three brass fittings and two suspension rings.
France, French Revolution period.
