General-Count Zakhar Grigorievich Chernyshev (1722–1784), a Russian statesman, distinguished himself during the Seven Years’ War, notably taking part in the capture of Berlin (1760). During the reign of Catherine II, he became Marshal of the Russian Empire, President of the War College, and subsequently Governor-General of Moscow.
