A RARE AND IMPORTANT SAVONNERIE-STYLE CARPET

Wool velvet on a cotton backing. A pale pink field decorated with garlands of finely drawn floral and foliage motifs, adorned with two intertwined pale celadon-green medallions inlaid with an antique gold crenellated medallion featuring mirror-shaped polychrome floral bud scrolls and a frame inlaid with a ruby crown and a multicoloured floral bouquet. Four spandrels decorated with polychrome garlands of flowers and foliage echoing the central medallion. Beautiful framing creating a remarkable balance with panels of multicoloured floral bouquets and stylised scroll motifs.
