This album most likely belonged to Charles Philippe Lafont (1781–1839), a French violinist and composer. Between 1808 and 1815, he served as a violinist in Tsar Alexander I’s chamber orchestra before returning to France, where he became first violin in King Louis XVIII’s chamber orchestra and musical accompanist to the Duchess of Berry. A few verses found in the album do indeed mention a “Lafont” (…) “with the wing of Apollo’s bow”.
