RARE TURNING-CIRCLE CLOCK in the "urn with snake" style. The finely chased and gilded bronze clock case takes the form of an urn with a double revolving dial in green lacquered metal and enamelled cartouches for the hours and minutes, adorned on the body with canals, with two lateral handles foliated with mascarons. At the bottom, a snake coiled on the pedestal indicates the time with its outstretched tongue. It stands on a square base with fluted canted corners. Three of the sides are decorated with oval Sèvres porcelain plaques painted in polychrome with trophies and gold frames on a sky-blue background.
The movement plate is signed in engraved cursive "L' échopier à Paris".
The porcelain plates are marked "Manufacture de Sèvres" with the letterdate
