This portfolio belonged to Gabriel Armand
Benoît, Marquis de La Rochelambert (1722 - 1785), who served as colonel of a regiment of Grenadiers- Royaux of his own name.
Royaux regiment in 1761. He had taken part in various battles and sieges| was wounded by a shot to the knee at Mons in 1746, appointed for the King as commander of the castle of Marbourg in Hesse in 1762| wounded the same year, at the head of his regiment, by a shot to the body, at the affair of Willemstadt or Grebenstein, on June 24, where he had several horses killed, including one under him, and was taken prisoner of war| was created chevalier de l'ordre royal et militaire de Saint-Louis after this action, obtained a pension from the King in 1763| admitted to ride in the carriages of the late Louis XV, on proof of his house in 1764| created brigadier des armées in 1769, designated by a letter, in the name of His Majesty, to be appointed maréchalde- camp at the first promotion| which took place.
