SUPERIOR OFFICER'S SORGE Mounted in finely chased ormolu on an amatized background. Stock-shaped pommel decorated with palmette and cornucopia, flat joint arch decorated with a radiant sun. Curved lion's head quillon.
Keyboard with central medallion featuring the profile of King Henri IV under a royal crown.
It is flanked by two antique-style divinities, one holding a lictor beam, the other a cornucopia. Mother-of-pearl plates, one missing. Straight Solingen blade with triangular cross-section, engraved in gold and blued in thirds, oxidation. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings, spider web clevis, attached bolt and accident to the leather. France, Restoration
