9th CENTURY HORSE HUNTER SABRE Brass mounting, minimal silvering and ebony. Lion-headed cap, line-decorated joint arch and drop-shaped quillon. Keyboard with number 9 on shield, imperial eagle and hunting horn background. Squared ebony spindle (crack).
Solingen blade with hollow sides, carp tongue and counter-edge.
Engraved on the fifth with trophies, flowers and a radiant sun.
Scabbard with two gilded brass bracelets and suspension rings with four cartouches in high relief on a dotted amati background.
They represent a sumptuous antique-style trophy, a woman reading to a boy (reported), an allegory of dancing and a representation of a rider at a bivouac.
All decorated with geometric friezes.
End decorated with palms, brass sting. Inner side entirely lined with geometric friezes.
Antique scabbard.
First Empire period.
