SABRE D'OFFICIER DE CAVALERIE À GARDE DE BATAILLE Attributed to the dragons of the Imperial Guard.
Brass mounting. Cutaway cap with line decoration. A jointed arch with four detached branches meeting on the palmette forming the shell. A fifth branch is detached from the arch to join the palmette counterguard. Drop-shaped quillon.
Presence of a clevis piece. Leather-covered wooden spindle with alternating double brass filigree. Curved blade with two gutters engraved with an imperial eagle and trophies, one-third gilded and blued. Leather scabbard with two long brass fittings, two suspension rings. Iron sting.
France, First Empire period.
