SABRE DE RÉCOMPENSE DIT " DES PAROISSES " donné par le Roi modèle 1816. Regulation series made from the old sabers of the musketeers of the second company model 1814. Mounted in silver-plated brass and shagreen. Oval cap, flat joint arc with two branches joining a medallion with the coat of arms of France. Tail plate decorated with a palmette. Wooden spindle in shagreen with alternating double copper filigree. Straight blade with two hollow sides engraved "VIVE Le ROI" and signed on the back "Manuf re du Klingenthal novembre 1814".
Leather scabbard with cap engraved "Donné Par le ROI à Mr Gaudin Père Jean".

"Because of the short-lived nature of this corps, it is likely that more of these sabers were made than were allotted to the musketeers. Indeed, we note that in recognition of the services rendered to the monarchy during the years of exile, the King distributed, as a reward, around one hundred and fifty of these sabers. To do this, they underwent only a minimal transformation, replacing the plate bearing the Musketeer Cross with one bearing the arms of France" in Armes blanches militaire françaises fascicule 1, Année 1967.
