HUSSARD'S OFFICER'S SABRE À LA HONGROISE Gilt and chased brass mounting. Long-tailed cap attached to the hilt.
Decorated with chevrons and rocaille.
Beaded joint arch, baguette cruise and straight quillon. Striated ebony buttstock with brass eyelet (crack). Strong blade with hollow sides and counter-edge. Engraved along the entire length. Side 1: profile of François II under crown, caption and trophy of arms. On the upper part, a coronation scene and foliage. Side 2: profile of Alexander Leopold Palatine with caption, profile of Maria Theresa under crown with caption. Scrolls and representation of a king holding the orb, scepter and crown of the Holy Roman Empire. The cutting edge is fully captioned, but only partially so due to repeated sharpening. Rocaille-decorated scabbard with blackened leather-covered wooden core and three cut, embossed, chased and gilded brass fittings. Reinforced on the edges with similar splints.
