HORSE HUNTER'S SABRE OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD Second model. Brass guard.
Oval cap with long tail.
Relief joint bow, almond-shaped crossbow with median ridge and straight curved quillon. Quillon stamped:
- VERSAILLES
-" LF" for J.B Le Febvre.
- BD" interlaced for D Brouilly.
Wooden spindle covered with copper watermarked leather (accident to the watermark). Curved blade with hollow sides and counter-edge marked on the back "Mfture Imp le du Klingenthal juin 1811", stamped "L" for Lobstein.
Probably recut at the tip.
Scabbard with one hollow, wooden core, two brass fittings and side splints.
Blackened leather-covered hollow and iron stinger.
Two brass bracelets and rings.
Some damage and oxidation.
France, First Empire period.
Total length: 99.5 cm
(Some dents and oxidation).
