PRAIRIAL AN XII MODEL MARINE OFFICER'S EPEE Gilt brass mounting.
Pommel with empanached helmet. The body knot features a naval anchor on one side and Poseidon on the other, with two straight quillons and a jointing arch. The top is decorated with a naval anchor, a palmette on the tail and ropes all around. Wooden spindle with alternating double copper filigree.
Solingen blade, straight with hollow sides, gilded, engraved and one-third blued.
Marked on the heel "S&|K" for Shnitzer and Kirchbaum. Leather scabbard with three chased brass fittings.
France, Consulate period.
