VOLUNTARY CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE Gilt brass Montmorency-style mounting.
Long-tailed cap with lion's head.
Joining arch forming the openwork top, from which two branches detach to form the shell decorated with a soldier in antique-style armor against a background of trophies of arms (period repair).
Wooden spindle with alternating double copper filigree. Curved blade with flat back and counter-edge. Engraved on the heel with a radiant sun and Turk's head.
Formerly engraved on the first half, then erased, two crescent moons remain.
France, Revolution and Ancien Régime period.

An invoice dated 1903 for an antique saber is attached.
