VENERY DAGUE by Manceaux in Paris. Carved stag handle decorated with a boar hunt, scallop-shaped pommel. Carved silver hilt decorated with a cruising stag's head and two straight quillons featuring a wolf and a boar.
Blade by Coulaux frères in Klingenthal, straight, double-edged, with central gutter and hollow sides.
The blade is finely chased with trophies and foliage, gilding remains on the heel and traces of oxidation.
Leather scabbard with two chased silver fittings. Inside of the chape marked "Manceaux à Paris". Dog-head cap knob. Goldsmith and boar's head hallmarks.
France, First Empire period.
