A Talosel and metal necklace by Line Vautrin
Line Vautrin
Nicknamed the ‘poet of metal’ for her humorous, rebus-style creations, Line Vautrin trained in metal engraving under her father, an artistic bronze worker, before inventing what would become her true material of choice. Patented in the 1950s, Talosel allows the artist to give her plastic creations the appearance of aged metal. A process she has since applied to her decorative objects, notably her renowned ‘witch’ mirrors, but also to her jewellery creations. These creations were subsequently the subject of an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1999: ‘Secret de bijoux’ – Line Vautrin and eleven contemporary designers.
