TIBET XIXth CENTURY
Short sword (ral gri) with scabbard, the tapered blade featuring hairpin laminations alternating dark and light lines characteristic of Tibetan forging. The handle is surrounded by metal wires and the pommel has a coral cabochon. The scabbard features a U-shaped frame decorated with scrolls, supporting two wooden plates covered with black velvet, the sides decorated with a swastika meander.
The top with a large plate chased with floral scrolls and enhanced with coral and amber cabochons. The end of the scabbard with an embossed silver cabochon symbolizing the Triratna ("Triple
Jewel") (dharma, sangha and Buddha).
