Large blue-white porcelain bowl decorated with dragon and phoenix among clouds, flying over tumultuous waves. The lip is encircled with metal. The base with a Nhat ("Sun") mark in blue underglaze.

NOTE Porcelains bearing the Nhat mark were often destined for the imperial palace, for use by the second emperor of the Nguyen dynasty, Minh Mang (r. 1820 - 1841).
