Rare KAZAK "TREE" rug
Wool velvet on wool foundation. An abraché brick field, seeded with gems, florets, small animals, entomological boxes and other small Caucasian symbolic decorations, supports eight stylized ivory and emerald trees of life. They are separated by a central column of octagonal ivory caissons with multicolored arrow medallions, interspersed with old gold and brick Kochak crosses on an anthracite background. Wide navy border with a series of polychrome cruciform corollas highlighted with ivory, brick and navy double serration. Dated Hegira 1314 = 1892 A.D. J.C. Very rare and highly prized.
