STAR-SHAPED CLADDING TILE
Rare eight-pointed star-shaped facing tile.
with eight branches. Engobed siliceous clay,
molded and underglaze-painted decoration in white,
turquoise, cobalt blue and manganese violet
of a peacock feather eye in a mandorla
in a mandorla over a calligraphic character
calligraphy (Allah?) and flowers and foliage
and foliage. Fillet on the rim.
Medieval Iran, late 14th century.
