Citroën drew a great deal of inspiration from the station wagon trend in the USA to develop its DS estate project. It was the
culmination of two years of research aimed at offering customers a multi-purpose vehicle that was both practical for craftsmen and comfortable for families, while retaining the elegance and technical features of the saloon.
In 1957, this concept, which was very popular in the USA, was represented in France only by the Simca Marly V8 estate. Pierre Franchiset, the man who had designed the Type H, came up with a very elegant, practical and fast station wagon for its time.
The car was presented at the 1958 Paris Motor Show, but was not launched until a year later. Produced from 1959 to 1975, it
was a huge worldwide success. The car we are presenting is an ID 21 F from the Bordeaux region, which entered the collection in 2006. Since then, it has undergone a major restoration, from the chassis to the interior, and is now in very good condition.
Our 7-seater estate has been given a superb shade of Camargue blue, combined with a light grey roof and boot. In the cabin, the upholstery is in beautiful blue velvet. Under the bonnet, the DX2 engine has had a complete overhaul and the manual gearbox has been revised. The hydraulic system has also been restored.
With its superb configuration and extensive restoration, our ID Estate will be your partner of choice for family outings.
