Swiss registration title, in temporary importation
The DS 21 we are presenting is a magnificent 1967 vintage, the most sought-after among Citroën manufacturers. It represents the quintessence of the DS before its restyling with 4 headlights under glass. This vintage also saw the introduction of the ‘green liquid’ hydraulic system, reputed to be more reliable and leakfree, while the 5-bearing engine developing 106 hp gave it the necessary power boost.
Launched on 14 June 1967, this configuration was certainly the most elegant and desirable of all, with its lines highlighted by its original Palladium Grey paintwork, with the option of a hydraulic gearbox and Havana leather upholstery.
Sold new in France, it was then registered second-hand in the name of a banker operating not far from Zurich. It was in 2017 that Mr D. crossed paths with the car, which then had just 86,500 km and was in excellent original condition with its original leather and carpets. What’s even rarer is that the previous owner had taken care to keep the small havana leather pouch protecting the owner’s manual and the Citroën Switzerland network! Extremely rare.
Aware of the nugget he had just acquired, Mr D. undertook an open-ended restoration the following year. The engine
was completely rebuilt and converted to unleaded, the entire hydraulic system was new and the gearbox overhauled.
Peripheral components such as the wiring harness, alternator and starter motor were replaced. Aesthetically, although the base is excellent, the bodywork has been stripped bare. All the windows are original, as are the exterior fittings. In the cabin, the sublime original havana leather has simply been creased to restore its suppleness, and the original carpets have been cleaned right down to the boot! The dashboard and all the gauges were also cleaned. The result is stunning and exudes quality.
Since then, the car has covered just over 3,000 km. Still pampered and passionately maintained by its previous owners, this
car is exceptional in terms of its configuration, the quality of its restoration and its history. With only 3 owners since new, it will delight collectors in search of authenticity and perfection.
