*Citroën BX GTI 16V – 1988
Swiss registration title, in temporary
importation
When the BX was presented to the public in 1982, enthusiasts were relieved to see the brand’s originality and DNA preserved.
Thanks to an excellent start to sales, Citroën quickly decided to expand the range, introducing the BX Sport in 1985, the BX GTI in 1986 and the 16-valve BX GTI in 1987.
It adopted PSA’s brand-new 160 hp 16-valve block, which would later be seen in the 406 MI16 and the 309 GTI 16. Weighing in at a featherweight 1,070 kg, the car delivers excellent performance.
Visually, it stands out for its special fascias, the spoiler attached to the rear trunk, the 14-inch aluminium wheels and the widened sills and wings. Restyled in 1990, it was finally produced until 1993, with 7,427 units produced in phase 1 and 8,013 in phase 2.
Sold on 15 March 1988 by the Zeder garage in the Neuchâtel region to a representative of the Caran d’Ache company who kept it until 2010, when he drove it over 220,000 km before selling it to a neighbouring collector. It finally entered the collection in 2014.
With 240,000 km on the odometer, our BX GTI 16 has always been well looked after, as its service booklet and its invoices attest.
The Meije white bodywork is fairly well preserved, although there are a few scars from heavy use. The interior, which is entirely original, has also been well preserved, and is equipped with an electric sunroof.
