Ford Thunderbird II – 1960
French historic registration title in progress
When the Chevrolet Corvette came out in 1953, Ford found itself in a rather unpleasant position... They were simply out of date! Two years later, their answer was the Thunderbird! Despite its very good looks, the T-Bird’s performance was not really up to scratch, and it had to compete with the Cadillac Eldorado.
In 1958, Ford updated the Thunderbird, the main feature of which was a complete change of look: the lines were tighter and made direct reference to the aircraft of the time. It was a great success, selling over 90,000 units!
Our example was acquired in 1991 by a French collector in the United States from an enthusiast who had owned the car since... 1971! At the time, the car was in mint condition, and was driven in Europe for several years.
When he bought the car, the current owner decided to carry out a major restoration: almost €29,000 was invested in restoring the paintwork, chromes, upholstery, wiring harness and soft top hydraulics (invoices on file). Today, the car is in good general condition, and runs very well: the engine has also recently been completely overhauled. All that’s needed is to adjust the gearbox control and find the soft top cover!
This is your chance to buy a beautiful American car with a gargantuan engine, in excellent condition and with a well-maintained history! With such an attractive valuation, it’s a real gift!
