Citroën CX 25 GTI TURBO – 1984

French registration title

By the mid-1980s, GTIs were everywhere, but the fashion was shifting to the Turbo. Citroën presented its offensive in October 1984 in the form of a 25 GTI Turbo. It produced 168 hp and stunning performance (220 km/h), while special TRX tyres ensured good roadholding. Everyone remembers the advertising at the time, with actress Grace Jones, the brand’s ambassador, shouting: “CX GTI Turbo, it’s demon!”
The CX GTI Turbo that illustrates these pages was launched in France on 24 October 1984. It’s a Series 1 AM 85 in metallic
grey with a rare garnet-red interior. It was registered 4003 TB 42 in the Haute-Loire department until 2019, when it joined a fine Citroën collection in Paris.
Today, the CX is in very good original condition throughout, with the original patina paintwork. The garnet-red upholstery (a period option) has recently been refreshed and is in like-new condition.
Regularly maintained by its enthusiastic owner, a great deal of servicing has been carried out. The front spheres have recently been changed.
Numerous old and recent invoices are on file. The red strikethrough of the original mines is visible, as is the recent work
carried out on the car.
The Series 1 CX GTI Turbo is a very rare ‘connoisseur’s’ car. The exact model only lasted less than a year before the arrival of the Series 2 and the major restyling of the CX range, and especially the exchanger on the Turbo. Add to that the red leather interior on this one, and the combination must be close to a one-off!
