Aston Martin DB9 Volante – 2009

French registration title

At the 2004 Detroit Motor Show, the Newport Pagnell-based firm presented its latest model: the DB9 in a stripped-down version. Of course, the Volante name was retained, recalling Aston Martin’s heyday. The engine was still the 5.9-litre, 450 hp V12, and thanks to the use of an aluminium body and alloy panels, weight was kept to a minimum.
Our example was ordered by its first and only owner directly from Aston Martin Paris, with a very rare (and special-order)
request: the mechanical gearbox! In addition to this absolutely rare feature, which solved the problem of the original gearbox’s slowness, the car was painted in Tungsten Silver combined with a beige interior and light woodwork: very chic!
Today, the car is in a very good state of preservation: the paintwork has no particular defects, as does the upholstery, which
has acquired a very nice patina over time. The electrical system for the soft top works without a hitch, and the soft top fabric is still in pretty good condition.
During our test drive, we were struck by the compromise that this car offers: in addition to the comfort of the top-of-the-range GT of the time, the performance (and sound) of the V12 are very much present, and the pleasure of the manual gearbox changes the game! All in all, the car handles extremely well, another testament to the seriousness of its owner!
If you’re looking for a car that’s halfway between pleasure and investment, look no further! This Aston is a true rarity, and is just waiting to be used on those beautiful spring and summer days.
